The Development

Portomaso was one of Malta’s first luxury locations. Within months of its opening in the late 90s, it became the address of choice for those eager to enjoy the very best that Malta has to offer – from seafront living in a state-of-the-art complex, to much of Malta’s best wining, dining, shopping and entertainment.

Today Portomaso continues to set local standards. The property is made up of 455 units, many of which overlook its very own yacht marina, and out to the Mediterranean Sea.

The apartments themselves promise complete luxury; the majority have lovely large terraces for entertaining, while some are even spread over two floors with their own private splash pools. Other fantastic facilities include the lush landscaped gardens that are spread throughout the development, and the convenient underground parking – which is a must in this popular and busy part of the island.

The Location

Portomaso is considered to be one of the most central of the island’s Special Designated Areas – with St Julian’s and Sliema right on its doorstep. This makes its very convenient for all sorts of activities, and ideal for professionals, couples and families alike.

St Julian’s is one of Malta’s most upmarket destinations. It is a haven for food lovers, who enjoy the fact that many of the island’s best restaurants are just a short walk away. In fact, some of them are even located within the Portomaso Marina itself, including award-winning fish and meat restaurant Zeri’s, Italian trattoria Sale e Pepe, specialised fish restaurant Acqua Terra E Mare, and one of the top spots for sushi and Japanese cuisine, Zen. Slightly further afield you’ll also find so many more options, including Maltese, Indian, Chinese, Thai and fusion cuisines, dotted along pretty Spinola Bay or the St Julian’s-to-Sliema promenade.

Aside from wining and dining, you’ll also find everything else you’re looking for close by. Portomaso has its own quality supermarket, Arkadia, while there is no shortage of other essentials within easy walking distance, including chemists, hairdressers, banks, real estate offices, shops, communal work spaces and cafés.

The area is also an important business destination, and many of the largest and most recognised companies in Malta choose to have a base here. And, although there are all sorts of options for business considering setting up near Portomaso, the Portomaso Business Tower is the obvious choice, as, spreadover 23 floors, its is a landmark in every sense of the world and provides the very best facilities to businesses here.

Residents, meanwhile, are also very well connected to the rest of the island – it’s about a 20-minute drive to Valletta and the airport, and 30 minutes to the north and south. This means that it’s the ideal spot to base yourself in if you want to make the most of everything that Malta has to offer – from its beaches and countryside, to its more cosmopolitan aspects.

The Lifestyle

Life in and around Portomaso is the perfect blend of activity and relaxation. The fact that the development is located in one of the island’s busiest and most in-demand spots means there’s no shortage of amenities here – from high street and designer shops, to supermarkets, gyms, running routes, family parks and beaches. It is located close to some of the island’s best schools too, including the largest international school, and is a popular place for families to meet to enjoy the open spaces along the coast.

In fact, the area is also very popular with expats, promising you the chance to meet a diverse group of people all of whom have one thing in common: they have chosen to make Malta their home. This perfectly encapsulates life in and around Portomaso – diverse, exciting, luxurious and wonderfully Mediterranean.
